The region is characterized by hills, mountains, valleys and historical towns such as the university centre of Perugia, Assisi, a World Heritage Site associated with St. Francis of Assisi. Richard S. Levine, a professor of Architecture at the University of Kentucky, described town of Todi as the model sustainable city, because of its scale and its ability to reinvent itself over time. Norcia, unlike many ancient towns, it is located in a wide plain abutting the Monti Sibillini, a subrange of the Apennines with some of its highest peaks, near the Sordo River, a small stream that eventually flows into the Nera. Town of Narni is very close to the geographic center of Italy of Italy. The main festival of Amelia is Palio dei Colombi, which stretches over two weeks in late July and early August.

The Italian word Lazio descends from the Latin word Latium. The name of the region also survives in the tribal designation of the ancient population of Latins, Latini in the Latin language spoken by them and passed on to the city-state of Ancient Rome. Rome is the capital of Lazio region, but inside this region you find various local areas such as Tuscia, land of Etruscans, and Sabina Hills which has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The most famous attraction of Cerveteri is the Necropoli della Banditaccia, which has been declared by Unesco as a World Heritage Site together with the necropolis in Tarquinia.

Molise is the youngest and one of the most rural Italian region, since it was established in 1963, when region “Abruzzi e Molise” was split into two regions. It is situated in south-central Italy and lies between the Apennine ridge and the Adriatic Sea. Nature, history, art, age-old traditions and good food are the treasures of this still largely-undiscovered region. Traveling in Molise is really akin to going on a treasure hunt. The myriad of secret spots and little gems in the most unusual places is what characterizes this region: like this marvelous crypt with frescoes dating from the 14th century Sienese school in a small, modest village, or this impressive theater built in the 2nd century BC outside a village with less than 850 inhabitants, Pietrabbondante, or that abbey San Vincenzo al Volturno, dating from the 7th century that was completely dismantled and carried across the river to be reconstructed on the other bank of the river.
